Government Loans

Similarly, eligible Canadian students enrolled in the MD program benefit from provincial student loan opportunities form their province of residence, such as OSAP in Ontario.Finacial Support.

MUA Scholarships

MUA offers grants and scholarships of up to $32,500 USD for qualified MD students from the U.S. Canadian MD students are eligible for up $32,500 CAD in grants and scholarships; they receive awards in CAD because they also pay tuition and administrative fees in CAD, which results in significant savings and reduces concerns about the fluctuating exchange rate over 10 semesters!*

Every year, our 4-year MD program participants obtain residencies in a variety of competitive programs at teaching hospitals and  medical centers across the U.S. and Canada. MUA students have secured residencies in a wide variety of medical specialties, including Anesthesiology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology and Surgery (just to name a few).

This success is fostered in our accredited MD program, which features five semesters of classroom and lab-based learning on our Nevis campus (Basic Science), followed by five semesters of clinical rotations (Clinical Medicine) at affiliated teaching hospitals in North America.

After medical school and residency, MUA Doctors of Medicine go on to practice in the U.S., Canada and internationally!

Match Day 2026:

Your Next Chapter Begins

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) Doctor of Medicine (MD) program students earn residency placements in programs across North America, in a diverse range of medical specialties.

Accreditation is Essential

The MUA MD program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), which is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). WFME standards have been deemed comparable to the standards used to accredit medical schools in the United States by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA).

MUA is also one of the few international medical schools with approvals in the key U.S. states of New York, California and Florida. These states mandate regular institutional reviews and approvals prior to granting access to clerkship opportunities or residency programs in their respective states, and other states rely on these approvals for the purposes of licensure.

What Is Match Day?

Match Day is one of the most significant milestones in a medical student's journey. It’s a moment when years of hard work, passion and dedication can result in a well-earned residency placement.

Match Day occurs at the end of Match Week, in March of each year. On the Monday of that week, MD students find out if they have secured a residency placement. Then on Friday, Match Day, they find out where exactly they will undertake their residency training.

The campus culture was one where there was so much collegiality amongst all the students. You had individuals from different provinces, you had people from America and different parts of the world too...you really get to make lasting friendships for a lifetime. So this is not just a place that you're going to be here just for studying; you're going to make lasting friendships that will make sure you excel.

MUA Alum 2013

I completed my medical education at MUA in 2013, then completed my Internal Medicine residency in Connecticut at Quinnipiac University... If I had a choice to choose MUA or go to a different school, I would 100%, no doubt, choose MUA over again.

Sheldon Vogt, MD

Resident Physician (Preliminary General Surgery)

Loma Linda Health Education Consortium (California)

MUA Alum 2024

When I moved into clinical rotations, and with the support that the school and staff had given me, I was well prepared for the transition to the United States. I had everything that I needed, either on-island or in the U.S. during the core rotations period and through electives, to help me be successful.
